Hey look, it's May 2nd. I turned 24 this past Sunday. I am getting old. LUL.
Anyways, my brother in the Marines leaves for deployment tomorrow. Off to the wonderful country of Georgia and then Afghanistan. For a year. He said how much he loves it, being a Marine, which is good for him I guess. We hugged on Monday, one of the very few times we have. I look forward to seeing him again in a year's time, but I know in the back of my head that Monday might have been the last time I saw him alive.
It might seem pessimistic to think like that, but it's realistic to me. Say, for example, you say "Bye." or "See you later." to a family member or friend because they or you are going to a store or another part of town or something simplistic like that, do you actually think you won't see them later that day or week? I doubt that many do think that even though it's a realistic possibility. Or probability really.
But anyways, before I get too sentimental, on to things that effect more people than just me.
May 8th is next Tuesday. That is primary day. To let registered voters to go and vote for whom they want to be the Republican nominee for president. Which is obviously going to be Mitt Romney. But there's something more important to vote on I think.
An amendment to the state constitution. This amendment would prohibit and outlaw same-sex marriages. I've seen many things on TV in full support of it and one thing the narrator said is "To keep marriage between one man and one woman, just the way God intended it." And my thought is, bitch please, no one who believes in God/Jehova/Allah can say they know what God intends. That's just stupidly ludicrous.
Plus there's already a law here in NC, that I didn't know about until about a month ago, that prohibits same-sex marriage. Which means the only reason why the supporters of the amendment want it to pass is because they know the current law would eventually get repealed. On the other hand, amendments are notoriously difficult to get rid of.
I really don't see the point in the amendment or the law that's already in the books. What, is voting to keep same-sex couples from getting married going to somehow make them disappear? I think not. But what pisses me off is no one has the right to tell others how to live, as long as it's not harming anyone else.
Plus the hypocrisy of those quoting the Bible in support of the amendment makes it laughable. There are many things in the Bible, but we don't follow them all. I think one part says that woman is subservient to man, but we obviously don't do that. Another, if I recall correctly, is that a wife who isn't a virgin at the time of marriage should be executed. Gee, that sounds fun.
I like the so called golden rule, "Love thy neighbor." If only that would take precedent over what's going to happen. I plan on voting no to that amendment, but I believe it will pass anyways. Sad thing really.
Also, why is it already going to hit 90 degrees Fahrenheit(32 Celsius)?
And I think it's time I find someplace else to live. Ruralville is really just tiring. WHERE SHOULD I RUN OFF TO?
